Udawalawe National Park
Udawalawe National Park is a renowned wildlife sanctuary located on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces in Sri Lanka. Established on June 30, 1972, the park spans over 30,821 hectares (119 square miles) and was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River. The park is a significant habitat for water birds and Sri Lankan elephants, making it a popular tourist destination.
